A quick and flavorful Cajun-spiced tuna steak with a restaurant-style crust, perfect for a healthy and easy dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 tuna steaks (6 ounces each)
  • 1 tablespoon blackened seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: Avocado-mango salsa for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels.
  2. Rub both sides of the tuna steaks with blackened seasoning.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Sear the tuna steaks for 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
  5. Serve immediately with avocado-mango salsa, if desired.

Notes

  • For grilling: Preheat grill to medium-high. Grill tuna steaks for 2-3 minutes per side.
  • For air frying: Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Air fry tuna steaks for 4-6 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Internal temperatures for tuna doneness: Rare (115°F/46°C), Medium-Rare (120°F/49°C), Medium (125°F/52°C), Medium-Well (130°F/54°C), Well-Done (135°F/57°C).
  • Marinade suggestion: Mix 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, and 1 teaspoon paprika. Marinate tuna for 30 minutes before seasoning and cooking.
