Make this classic seven layer dip for your next gathering. This easy, cold Tex-Mex dip is packed with flavor and always disappears quickly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1 (16 ounce) can refried beans, not heated
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
  • 1 cup chopped black olives, drained
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning mix. Mix until smooth. This creates your first layer.
  2. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom of a 9×13 inch serving dish.
  3. Spread the refried beans evenly over the cream cheese layer.
  4. Gently spread the guacamole over the beans.
  5. Spoon the salsa over the guacamole layer.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the salsa.
  7. Top with the chopped black olives, chopped tomatoes, and chopped green onions in distinct layers.
  8. Cover the dish and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld.
  9. Serve cold with tortilla chips.

Notes

  • You can prepare this make ahead dip up to 24 hours in advance. Keep it covered in the refrigerator.
  • For a meatier version, brown 1 pound of ground beef with extra taco seasoning and place it as the third layer, above the refried beans.
  • If you prefer a thicker salsa layer, drain off excess liquid before spreading it over the guacamole.
