Make this easy baked crispy cheddar chicken for a satisfying, cheesy, and crunchy family dinner. This recipe uses simple ingredients for a flavorful weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup crushed Ritz crackers (or Panko breadcrumbs)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the crushed crackers, shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Pour the melted butter into a separate small bowl.
  4. Dip each chicken breast first into the melted butter, coating both sides lightly.
  5. Press the buttered chicken firmly into the cracker and cheese mixture, ensuring both sides are fully coated with the crunchy topping.
  6. Place the coated chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the topping is golden brown and crispy.
  8. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can briefly broil the chicken for the last 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Use sharp cheddar cheese to ensure a strong cheese flavor cuts through the crust.
  • This recipe works well with chicken thighs if you prefer darker meat.
