Ingredients
Scale
1 cup long grain white rice
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1 3/4 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Do not let the garlic brown.
Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan and stir constantly for 1 minute to coat the grains in the butter mixture.
Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover the saucepan tightly with a lid, and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
Remove the lid and fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
Notes
Using broth instead of water adds significant depth to the flavor profile.
