A simple and delicious recipe for homemade guacamole, perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 12 serrano chilies, minced (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado flesh with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency. For chunky guacamole, leave some larger pieces.
  3. Add the chopped red onion, cilantro, minced serrano chilies (if using), lime juice, salt, and cumin (if using) to the bowl.
  4. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more salt or lime juice if desired.
  6. Serve immediately or cover tightly with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning.

Notes

  • To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before refrigerating.
  • For a spicier guacamole, leave some seeds in the serrano chilies.
  • You can add diced tomatoes or a pinch of garlic powder for extra flavor.
