- 3 ripe avocados
- 1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1–2 serrano chilies, minced (optional)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
- Mash the avocado flesh with a fork until it reaches your desired consistency. For chunky guacamole, leave some larger pieces.
- Add the chopped red onion, cilantro, minced serrano chilies (if using), lime juice, salt, and cumin (if using) to the bowl.
- Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more salt or lime juice if desired.
- Serve immediately or cover tightly with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning.
Notes
- To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before refrigerating.
- For a spicier guacamole, leave some seeds in the serrano chilies.
- You can add diced tomatoes or a pinch of garlic powder for extra flavor.
