Ingredients
Scale
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, honey, and red pepper flakes if using.
Place tuna steaks in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag.
Pour the marinade over the tuna steaks, ensuring they are fully coated.
Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for a stronger flavor. Do not marinate for too long, as the acid can ‘cook’ the fish.
Remove tuna steaks from marinade and discard the remaining marinade.
Cook tuna steaks as desired (grill, pan-sear, broil).
Notes
For best results, use fresh ginger.
Adjust red pepper flakes to your spice preference.
This marinade is also excellent for salmon or other firm fish.
