Enjoy the best of both worlds with this pizza lasagna skillet bake. It combines pizza flavors layered lasagna-style in one skillet for a fast, cheesy dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 8 ounces lasagna noodles, broken
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large oven-safe skillet, cook Italian sausage over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Stir in marinara sauce, water, oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a simmer.
  3. Add broken lasagna noodles to the skillet, ensuring they are mostly submerged in the sauce. Cover and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes, or until noodles are tender, stirring occasionally.
  4. Preheat your broiler.
  5. Remove the lid and sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheeses evenly over the top. Arrange pepperoni slices over the cheese.
  6. Broil for 3-5 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and pepperoni is slightly crisp. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute crumbled plant-based sausage or omit the sausage and add sautéed mushrooms and bell peppers.
  • You can add other favorite pizza toppings like black olives or onions.
  • Ensure your skillet is oven-safe for broiling.
