A quick and flavorful recipe for seared Ahi tuna with an Asian-inspired glaze, perfect for a healthy and elegant meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb sushi-grade Ahi tuna steak
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and honey. This is your glaze.
  2. Pat the tuna steak dry with paper towels.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Carefully place the tuna steak in the hot skillet. Sear for 1-2 minutes per side for rare, or longer for more well-done tuna.
  5. Remove tuna from skillet and let it rest for a minute.
  6. Slice the tuna steak against the grain.
  7. Drizzle the soy-ginger glaze over the sliced tuna.
  8. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

  • For best results, use sushi-grade Ahi tuna.
  • Adjust searing time based on your preferred doneness.
  • You can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze for a touch of heat.
