Make this easy Texas Trash Pie, a crowd-pleasing dessert loaded with chocolate chips, pecans, coconut, and butterscotch flavor in a buttery crust. It is a comforting, indulgent sweet treat perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pre-made graham cracker crust (9-inch)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup crushed pretzels (optional, for salty crunch)
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the graham cracker crust on a baking sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut, pecans, and crushed pretzels if you are using them. Mix these dry ingredients gently.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients in the large bowl. Stir everything together until all the mix-ins are coated with the milk mixture.
  5. Pour the entire filling mixture into the prepared graham cracker crust, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is mostly firm but still slightly gooey.
  7. Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Cooling allows the gooey filling to set properly.
  8. Serve at room temperature or slightly chilled. This pie tastes great warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For an extra salty element, use salted pecans or add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt over the top before baking.
  • If you skip the pretzels, this recipe still delivers a rich, sweet experience.
  • This pie is excellent made a day ahead of time and stored covered in the refrigerator.
