Make these simple and budget-friendly tuna patties for a quick and satisfying meal. They are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (5 ounce) can tuna, drained and flaked
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the drained tuna, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Carefully place the tuna patties in the hot skillet.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and heated through.
  6. Remove the patties from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Serve with your favorite tartar sauce or a squeeze of lemon.
  • These patties can also be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, for a healthier option.
  • For crispier patties, ensure the oil is hot before adding them to the skillet.
