A simple and comforting apple crisp, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Spread the apple mixture evenly in an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • You can add 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts to the crumb topping for extra crunch.
